About This Course

Sugarcane Waste to Biofuel teaches how an abundant agricultural residue becomes renewable energy. You study the composition of sugarcane bagasse — cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin — and why it is both promising and stubborn as a feedstock. The course walks through the conversion pipeline: pretreatment to break down biomass, enzymatic hydrolysis, and fermentation to bioethanol, along with the process and yield considerations that decide viability. Set against the wider case for a circular, waste-to-energy bioeconomy, it gives you a grounded understanding of second-generation biofuel from residue to fuel. A verified e-Certificate of competency and e-Marksheet from the Deep Science & Technology Consortium.

🎯 Program Aim

This course covers converting sugarcane waste (bagasse) into biofuel — biomass composition, pretreatment, hydrolysis and fermentation of agricultural residue into bioethanol.

📋 Course Objectives

1. Describe sugarcane bagasse composition and structure.
2. Explain pretreatment methods for lignocellulosic biomass.
3. Outline enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation to ethanol.
4. Assess process yield and viability factors.
5. Situate the process in a circular bioeconomy.
